We rent sit-on-top kayaks in Hasaniemi, Joensuu. Sit-on-top kayaks are stable and safe to use, suitable for both touring and fishing. In calm weather, it is a short trip from the rental shop to Lake Pyhäselkä, where you can enjoy the scenery of Lake Saimaa’s largest bay. The kayaks are a short trip away from Kuhasalo, which is located at the mouth of the river and offers nature trails and campfire sites. It is also possible to paddle on the river within the city limits. You can take a kayak to Ilosaari, visit the passenger harbor, and let the current carry you along.
Transportation is also available if you want to go further afield. Please inquire about prices. We have taken customers to Lehmo, for example, which is located upstream on the Pielisjoki River. From there, it takes about 4 hours to paddle to Hasaniemi, with rest stops at Utrankoski, among other places. In many places along the route, the river carries the kayak comfortably downstream.
