Experience Ruunaa’s stunning scenery and nature on a weekend trip from May 29–31, 2026. This trip is particularly affordable, so if possible, you should definitely take advantage of this opportunity.
We’ll depart from Joensuu about 4:00 PM on May 29. The drive from Joensuu to Ruunaa takes about 1.5 hours. We’ll also stop at a store along the way to buy snacks for the weekend. We’ll arrive in Ruunaa around 6:00 PM, after which we’ll check into our cabins.The cabins are equipped with a refrigerator, a kettle, and a microwave. Near the cabins, there is a barbecue shelter/campfire area where you can prepare meals. The cabins do not have running water or toilets. Showers and flush toilets are located in the service building.
The evening is free time. The area offers great hiking trails through rapids scenery and fantastic fishing spots. The camp center also has a restaurant, and you can book a sauna for the evening if you’d like.
This Saturday, we’ll be going on a guided kayaking trip. We’ll take a shared ride to a spot near the Russian border, where we’ll start paddling back toward our campsite. The kayaking trip is about 15 kilometers long, and we’ll stop as needed. The trip will take about 6 hours. Bring your own snacks!
We’ll be paddling in stable sit-on-top kayaks, which even inexperienced paddlers can feel confident using. Paddling instructions will be provided at the start of the trip. We won’t be going all the way down the rapids; instead, the trip ends at the head of the first rapid, from where we’ll be transported back to camp. Free time in the evening
Spaces are limited, so be sure to book your trip right away! The price of the trip is €130 per person when 3 or 4 people are staying in the cabin; when 2 people are staying in the cabin, the price is €150 per person; and when staying alone in the cabin, the price is €180 per person. The price includes transportation from Joensuu, 2 nights’ accommodation in a barn, and a guided kayaking trip. You can secure your spot by paying a €22 reservation fee here. The remaining balance must be paid 14 days before the trip. I will email an invoice to each participant. We do not place strangers in the same cabin. When paying the reservation fee, please specify in the additional information field who will be staying with you. If this information is not provided, we will assume that the person making the reservation will be staying alone, in which case the price is €180.
